Yes WJM:
I do recall having some of this same discussion
on the RIT list.
The plastic (poly-carbonate) filter was from a surplus mailorder
company and given to me by an associate. I assume it was made
for a battery powered light source for a sniper scope (otherwise
it would melt).
It is quite thick (4mm) and was about 85 to 90 mm diameter.
It has since been made to fit a series 9 to 72mm adapter.
The "Wood" effect is quite clearly visible once your eye
adjusts. I too have considered making goggles, if only
I could find another filter. To the man on the street
you'd look like "The FLY".
When an 092 is mounted on a video camera, you get a mild
Ir effect with a lot of red. The plastic filter is neutral and a
very pronounced ir effect. It is usable only with full sun
on video. I also have a LEE 87 which is not usable with
a video camera.
So can i conclude that an 093 filter is equvalent to
wratten 87? (seem to have misplaced the B+W catalog
at the moment :~\
