In photo supply stores, you can get a black crepe like tape.  Scotch makes
one.  It is sort of a masking tape but better.  There is also a black
cloth duck tape, generally sold in photo stores that would work great.
Probably better for your application.  You might be able to pick that tape
up in better building supply stores also.  It doesn't leave a residue like
regular duct tape and hold very well.
