You wrote;
I need some validation on my choice of equipment of moving to Medium
Format, and would appreciate any or all comments.
My requirements:
Larger negative than 35mm.
Ability to handle 70mm film (Specifically HIE).
(could also go to 4x5, but I don't want to make that leap yet)
My choices:
Pentax 645n
Hasselblad 503
Bronica ETRsi
Rollei 6003
Well, the Hasselblad will be very versatile and reliable. I don't know
where you got the idea it does not hold up well in field use-after all
they have taken the camera into space and on the moon for nearly 40
years! One of the best things about the camera is that you can rent
seldom used lenses and accessories from any pro camera shop in the U.S.
and europe for reasonable prices. And they hold their value in case you
ever decide to sell it.
The Kiev meter prisms fit the Hasselblad for a very reasonable price.
There is a good pool of reasonably priced used gear out there as well,
plus you can switch backs in mid-roll. In fact I believe Hasselblad USA
is running a promo now where they will give you a free back of your
choice if you buy a new 501 cm system. A free 70mm back? Can't beat
that!
