OOPS!!  Of course I meant to type "optical", not "electrical", but that is
another interesting option.

On oxymorons - I am afraid dictionaries are useless when it comes to these
semantic arguments.  It's the old "if a tree falls in a forest with no one
there to hear it, is it sound?" question.  It is not if you define the
phenomenon in terms of human perception and it is if you equate sound to
pressure vibrations in the air.  IR is not light if you insist on seeing it
directly with your own eyes and it is light if light is equated to
electromagnetic radiation.  In this way I am also happy calling gamma rays,
x rays, microwaves, ultraviolet rays, radio waves, and so forth all
"light".  I am ecumenical when it comes to frequency!  See?
