OK, tried to keep quiet......
I spend more and more time in the darkroom and less on digital
manipulation. This has been a trend over the last three years. This ratio
varies depending on current projects. Often the results from the darkroom
are scanned and then manipulated digitally.
The computer is a tool, the camera is a tool, the enlarger is a tool. All
can be used to assist in creating a piece of work. Your intellect is used
with all three. You can always learn new ways to use all three.
For those who feel threatened by machines, or indeed the technology which
surrounds us - recommended reading is "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle
Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values " by Robert M. Pirsig.
As for colour IR film - personally it does nothing for me. I would use the
computer to create the colour maps from an ordinary colour photo. Black
and white is another matter all together. Can't imagine using anything
other than camera, IR film, and darkroom for the original image. Having
read the posts on digital emulation of the halo effect from HIE using Neon
Glow, have made a mental note to try it out.
Still looking for an R72 or equivalent in Cokin P size if anyone has any
pointers would be grateful. Thanks.
All the best,
