Ahhh, you have just inadvertantly discovered one of the joys of EIR - the
"fall leaves" are actually a mixture of dense purple flowers and green
leaves, but they come out as pink/magenta and orange in the 2 shots you
mentioned (2nd and 3rd last ones on images page).
I have another shot off the last roll that I ran through that has a
graduated sky that I have run out of superlatives to describe - soon to be
scanned, although I don't think the scanning will do it justice...
There are a couple of observations about EIR that I have made and you might
like to keep in mind as you try it out...
1) Don't bother TTL metering with EI of 200 - I have to always use 250 or
even 320
(caveat - I live in Australia and all my shots so far have been taken in
summer)
2) Try and balance the shot so you have a high % of sky (maybe 50%), some
of my shots without sky make me feel ill upon lightbox viewing they are so
pink/magenta/red
3) Experiment with old sheds and wooden structures (interesting dark
greens)
4) Try and get some big storm clouds, but still sunny - Undersides of
clouds come out pink.
5) Find some pine trees. The needles have a soft focus quality, even though
the banches and trunk are sharp. (I have a couple of these to be scanned)
6) Water is always interesting.
7) Try an orange filter with portraits (black eyes regardless of color,
disgusting skin colour)
8) Cats are boring in colour IR - all reds.
The most interesting thing that I have found about this film: I have the
shot of the river (on my images page) as an 8x10 ilfochrome above my desk
at work; 80% of the people that see it don't ask "Why is the grass/trees
red ?", they ask "Where was that taken ?". I can't comprehend this, do they
think that the grass and trees are naturally red somewhere in the world
????
