Anyone dare to take a bet that Sony just invented this story?
How well did sales go before?....;-))

Btw, in sci.optics someone mentioned that this camera could see up
to 1100nm....I know CCD's can see pretty far into IR, further than
film (although with very limited absolute sensitivity in the past),
but night vision tubes don't see that far AFAIK, ending at 900nm
(which not only shows an incline over the history of NV tubes, but
also demanded/wanted, to allow both better use of natural light
*and* the use of truely invisible artificial light). 

Anyone care to take a shot at the latter?

Oh, and if Sony doesn't keep this thing on the shelves, someone else
will. And that company will be king of the stock market, just like
the one that launched Viagra....;-))
