?: EIR sharpness

I've just got second roll EIR from processing (E-6) and it seems
very very strange in terms of sharpness and grain, not compairable
to normal slide film.

I exposed it using TTL-metering set to ISO 320/26 and a Heliopan
Gelb(Y) 12 filter mounted on my Canon EF 3.5-4.5/28-70 II stopped
down to f/8.0 most of the time, most some slides do not look sharp.

Is EIR not a sharp film? Ektachrome 1600X which has a compairable
amount of grain seems to be much sharper.

BTW: I also noticed that the sound of the film advance is different,
maybe because of the thinner base.
