I have almost never bothered loading the 35mm cassettes into the camera in
complete darkness; I usually load it in a windowless bathroom (without
shutting the door; the room is lit only by indirect skylight) or in any
room with the lights out after dark if I am at home, or in a closet while
travelling. Works for me; your mileage may vary.
