There is no heat/halo phenomena. Period. 

The halo is mothing more than gross overexposure of those areas in a scene that
reflect or emit or transmit significantly more IR than the rest of the scene.
This "halo" bit is often visually quite attractive especially when associated
with human epidermis (skin)(!) ... ;-)  but it is not, it is not, due to HEAT.

Excessive halation is also significantly enhanced with HIE film since it has no
antihalation protection built-in.
