Pinholes

To the group,

Kodak is finally admitting that it has a problem manufacturing 4x5 HSI 
and, to a lesser extent, 35mm HIE. 

In maufacturing, when the emulsion gets one of the top coats, it seems 
to displace some of the sensitive emulsion producing clear "pinholes"  
when it is processed.

Kodak is aware of the problem and my contact there, Richard Johnson, is 
willing to push his organization into fixing the film. Johnson knows 
that HSI 4x5 is a unique product and Kodak feels some obligation to 
manufacture it. But the film is a slow seller and Kodak could ultimately 
abandon it if the fix is too costly.

Please send me Email describing your problems with "pinholes" in the 
emulsion. I will print and send correspondence to Dick Johnson like 
write-in ballots "PRO-INFRARED".
