There is a twisting, turning drive up the Salt River called the "Apache
Trail,"  probably for tourists.  But it's a _great_ senic drive.  The river
is dammed at the top, and close by is a National Monument with some cliff
dwellings - sorry, I've forgotten the names.  Lots of material for HIE.

It will be the better part of a day's drive if you, like me, spend a lot of
time shooting.  There are a few places where fairly large creeks cross the
road:  take the time to walk back upstream, since some of them have
beautiful pools.
