I used to used a hypodermic syringe and stab the rubber stopper through and
the bottle would last an incredibly long time. However I didn't notice an
appreciable loss of strength when the developer discolored moderately. You
may try a dip test with your leader scrap and determine the time necessary
for fresh rodinal to bring up visible density and test it every time you
mix a batch. If the time extends much you can either try to calculate
extensions of the developer times based on the dip test times or, easiest,
go buy a new bottle.
