 >>>How are you slicing the 70mm film to 60mm?

I slice it using a couple of Fiskar Rotary Razor blades embedded in a
wooden trough. Works very well, but took a lot of time and trial and
error to perfect my system.

>>>Have you noticed any scratches on the film due to the slicing?

Nope. However, the bigger roll film is harder to load on a developing
reel and I have made a couple of scratches on an individual roll when
loading it. The film sits on an antistatic cleaning cloth to prevent
static discharges while splicing.

>>>To have you been controlling the width of the 60mm product?

I think you're asking how I control the width? My wooden trough is
70mm wide and the two rotary blades are each 5mm away from each wooden
wall. It's fairly accurate, and would guess the width varies less
than plus or minus 0.5 mm.

On a different note ….

To those of you bulk loading your IR. If you're a real penny pincher
you can pick up free 35mm film cartridges at your local 1 hour
developing lab. Many of these labs will gladly give you 20 or so
empty cartridges for free, especially if you're a regular customer.
Generally the labs leave about a quarter of an inch (1 cm) of film
sticking out from the felt lip which you can tape your bulk film to.
The nice thing about these commercial cartridges is that they won't
break open if you accidentally drop them. And they're free!

Have Fun Rolland Elliott
