Info on Lith developer

I've been collecting supplies to try my hand at Lith processing.  Even though I
don't have Tim's book (yet), during a clean-up session I found I had the issues
of Photo Techniques with his two-part article (July/August and September/October
1998) on Lith printing.

It seemed from the article that Fotospeed LD-20 is a good choice of developer
but I couldn't find it anywhere in the US.  I finally had a conversation with
Doug at Freestyle Sales (California) who orders Luminos products.  He talked to
them and apparently they just got some in (it's not even in the catalog they
give to retailers).  They also indicated it's been "getting raves" in the UK. (I
guess Tim's book has sparked a lot of interest.)  Doug says it is sold as a kit,
500ml (each?) of A and B and will be about $30.  This is a lot more than the
Kodalith, but I think the LD-20 comes with some additional additives and
instructions re: pepper fogging.  (Maybe it is also the cost of importing
chemicals?)

So, if you have been looking for it, I guess your worries are over.  Freestyle
may have it on their webpage soon (http://www.freestylesalesco.com/).  They also
have lith paper.  Or you can have your favorite dealer contact Luminos.  It will
probably take a few days to get, especially since Luminos is in a part of New
York that is snowed in right now.

I have to use a community darkroom as my darkroom is too simple (a few small
trays and too cramped to spend 20 mins. per print), so I will have to wait until
I can spend several hours there.  I will be experimenting with a couple of
developers and papers - if I get anything good, I will post them.

PS.  Tim, I'm waiting till your book comes out in the US.  I was going to order
it from you but I made the mistake of calculating the cost at the current
exchange rate (ouch!).
