After several gray and non-ir-photography appealing days
the evidence is growing that there is a higher proportion of
ir to visible light this time of year in the northern lattitudes.
Between 10am and 2 pm the color temp of sunlight is only
slightly redder than 5500 K it is around 5140 K.
Before and after these times it starts to move toward 4000 K.
I measured the difference between the
ambient daylight and light passed through various
red ,deep red and ir filters using a hand held light meter.
The difference turned out to be 1/2 stop over exposure
using an unfitered hand held meter with daylight to gauge
your exposure. This is during the day before 10 and after 2.
The difference even greater close to sunrise and sunset.
