It's me Clark again. I'm new to this list and I was wondering what you meant
by ''editing'' our replys and what exactly you mean by a 'mailer'' (I'm
using MS Outlook). I do understand that you wish the digest users to respond
beneath the first message- is this just just done by hitting reply to author
and then inserting below? Help!

Dear gang,

I see several messages that are quite sloppy in formatting & quoting.

Please try to keep quotes as short as possible when replying. This
also includes replying *below* the quote, not the other way around.
Not only does 'quote-first' force you to *look* at the quotes (and
make you realize how large they are), it also allows other people to
continue the thread....with reply-first you make a second reply
almost impossible without complicated editing.
[I know several dumb mailers invite you to this wrong
'reply-first/quote-second' concept, by starting with empty lines on
top of the quote when replying, but please be smarter than your
mailer, or find a decent one]

Whenever I see a message with two admin footers, I see someone who
didn't take much care in editing his quotes. And mostly, if not
always, this involves a reply-first/quote-second format....proving
most of my points/arguments.

Please be kind to digest-readers & those with slow Net-connections,
and be smarter than your mailer....
