We live in Sarasota and have been to Sanibel/Captiva many times. You give a
go at the Sanibel lighthouse during the late morning or early afternoon.
While it's on a point the better view is from the east facing westerly. BTW
there are great sunsets using the fishing pier as a compositional element.
Also, of great interest to me is Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. My next trip
down will be to do some IR wildlife using an 87c gel mounted between the film
rails of my recently acquired Contax RTS. Other than that you might find some
interesting views at a couple of the public beaches. Captiva, on the other
hand doesn't offer too much, IMHO, for color or IR shooting.
While you're in the area you might want to wander around Matlache which is a
small island just before reaching Pine Island. Walk around and look down and
behind buildings...we got some good IR pix doing just that.
Hope this helps and if you need some other suggestions for shooting around the
area, please let me know either here or personnally.
Regards,
Mike Brouphy from the Suncoast of Florida, where winter is only a passing
thought.
