This is difficult because so many things affect your results.  However, I
believe that you will find the method I use as a good starting point.  Meter the
scene through a #25 filter at EI 250.  Develop with D76 1+1 70F 10 min or Xtol
1+1 70F 8 min.

As you gain experience, you'll find that different times of the day, times of
the year, etc., will affect the EI.  Actually, right now you may wish to lower
the EI (maybe to about 160) if it is winter where you are, and raise it to as
much as 400 during the summer.

Obviously, testing is the real key here.  I shot 35 frames, exposing and
developing them all differently, then printed each one.  This gave me a mosaic
which gave me a chance to see the possibilities HIE offered.  It took quite some
time to do, but the experience has saved me an incredible amount of time and
frustration.
