>>>This subject matter probably has been addressed many times
before;sorry if Iam resurrecting it again. I understand there is
somebody in Germany who sells cutters (about300DM) that can trim 70mm
HIE down to 60mm wide: Franz Reicheneder Brunngartenstrasse 5D-85221
DachauGermany TEL:/FAX: 49 813 179414
Has anybody bought one of his cutters and how does it function? Then,
is there anybody who knows (especially who has tried) to roll into
120spools on backing papers?<<<

I can sell you a bulk roll of 150' long by 61.5mm (this is the
standard width of medium format roll film) HIE for $245 US dollars.
This includes Shipping and handling. I cut this film down from 70mm
stock by using my own homemade film cutter. This film has sprocket
holes on one side, but they are usually cropped out easily. It looks
like this:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Shipping usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, due to the fact that it usually
takes B&H about 6 weeks to ship 70mm HIE to me. I can also supply this
film in 60mm widths with no sprocket holes, but most people will have
trouble developing this film because you have to have adjustable film
reels to process 60mm film.

You can roll this film into 120 backing papers fairly easily in a
darkroom. I suggest the following:
1) Precut pieces of tape.
2) Lay your 120 backing paper out on a table.
3) Turn off all lights
4) Cut 2.5 feet lengths of HIE.
5) Tape this film to the backing paper and roll on to an old 120 spool.

Previously, I thought that the infrared film had to be loaded in total
darkness. However, I just did a test last weekend and found out you
can load this film under subdued lighting ( example: regular
fluorescent and incadescent lights inside) I wouldn't load this film
up outside under strong mid day sun! Although it might be possible? I
haven't tried it yet.

Contact me personally if you'd like to order some of this film. I can
also sell you 100' x 61.5mm color infrared film for the same price.

Sincerely Rolland Elliott
