Hi
I work for a company that makes reconnaissance cameras. We buy our film
from Kodak. They should be able to supply film. But, the film is
expensive and generally has a minimum order quantity. A roll of 5" *
1000' Kodak 2424 IR film was probably about $800.00 per roll in quantity
without perfs. and a minimum quantity of 13 rolls. That's $10400.00!
Five inch film is a common film for the military reconnaissance
industry. They also use 9.5 inch film too. I don't know what camera you
saw, so I don't know what length of roll of film would be needed. There
are smaller rolls, like 500 feet, 250 feet, 100 feet etc. Which would be
less expensive. Some cameras, like the ones we make, don't need
perforated film. I have seen surplus film being sold by some outfits. I
think years ago I bought some from Freestyle in California. I believe
that any emulsion that is for aerial photography is available in 70mm, 5
inch and 9.5 inch. We use 5 inch the most. and I know we have some 2424
film. It's been a while since we bought some film, so I don't know for
sure what the current price and availability is. I'll do some checking
with our purchasing department and post it if I find out anything. There
should be some other sources for Kodak film that sell to the aerial
mapping guys. I'll keep my ears open if there is a need out there. let
me know.
