I use a spotmeter when shooting HSI. I use it (with a #25 filter over the
meter) to measure the shadow areas I wish to include in the scene and adjust
from there. Of course, the scene at hand will determine how many stops from my
reading I will end up at. Remember that the shadow areas will not expose as
well as "regular" B&W film, so a bit of testing and "getting used to the system"
is appropriate.
