from Paul's post ...
I have two questions: 1. Do any of you use an inexpensive Nikon body with a
smooth pressure plate, if so, what model? 2. Can I just put some smooth
electrical tape or gaffer tape over the entire pressure plate and shoot that
way?
not a Nikon ; but I have taped a piece of backing paper from
a 120 roll of Agfa apx25 (finer than others I've seen) across
the dimpled pressure plate of the ancient Pentax H2 I am using
for my IR shooting. Use enuf tension when taping to slightly
compress the plate, leaving enuf "give" for closing the back
to "do its thing". So far I have had no adverse effects.
