Infrared Tips Specific To Nikon N70

Hi, I'm about to explore shooting infrared films with my N70 and I'm
looking for any tips to maximize my results with this body. I'll be
shooting HIE through a Nikon R60 red filter, which is roughly between a
Tiffen #25 and #29, mainly using 85mm/f1.8 and 20mm/f2.8 AF-D Nikkors.
I'll probably limit my shooting to full sunlight in order to normalize the
light wavelength baseline, but I might aim more early morning/late
afternoon sunlight since the midday sun is pretty harsh in this area
(California Central Valley).
Anyway, I think I've got the general basics down--film handling and
storage, exposure compensation and bracketing, etc.--but I wonder if anyone
on the list has shot infrared extensively with an N70 or a Nikon with a
similar metering system, and if so could you help me with a few specific
questions.
Big question: what is the deep red/infrared exposure bias of the N70 TTL
meter? I've got the general idea re. grey card metering with and without
filter to doublecheck the filter compenation, but I'd like to hear the
compensation factors other Nikon shooters have arrived at. And is the N70
TTL meter at all useful for pure infrared metering (i.e., with an 87 series
filter over the lens)?
What about flash metering? Has anyone done a multi-flash setup relying on
the TTL meter with success? Anyone shot extensively with an SB-140? I
can't figure out what the auxiliary flash sensor does from reading Nikon's
web specs. I doubt I'd ever buy one, but if I can find a pro shop that
rents them I might give it a spin.
Any tips on mounting a gel/polyester filter between the frame rails of an
N70? It looks to me like there rails protrude enough to tape in a filter
without binding against the film transport, but if you've got any
idiot-proofing tip, please pass them along. I'd hate to damage the body by
ignoring some obvious safety step.
Thanks for any help.
