If Landsat 7 successfully made orbit that is good news. It
will replace Landsat 5 which was luanched in March 1984.
Unfortunately, it is the same technology as Landsat 5, and
that dates back to the mid-1970s. The only difference is the
15 meter ground resolution panchromatic band, while the other
7 bands are either 30 meter or 120 meter (as is the case with
the true infrared band.)
Altitude is 704 km and the repeat frequency-the time it takes
to acquire the the globe and return to where it started is
16 days.
Cheers!
