Samuel -

The reason for this is that Konica IR is a fine-grained film.  Most
developers are designed for faster films, so to minimize the grain the
developer eats away at the grain clusters.  Konica IR obtains accutance when
the grain is left alone, which is one of the advantages of Rodinal.
Additionally, Rodinal can be used with a variety of dilutions to help match
the situation.

Certainly, D76 and Xtol can be used, but IMHO they don't give you the
advantages of Rodinal for this film.
