A method that allows a a more general use: the Sunny Sixteen Rule.

At f16, you need a shuttertime of 1/ASA, providing bright sunshine.

With a #87C and an effective ASA of 12, this becomes f16 @ 1/15s, or 
f8 @ 1/60s, in my case which translates to a bracket of f5.6-11.
