Re: Infared Exposure???
so, set your meter for the 2 stops underexposure in daylight. looks like you've found
the combination for how your system of shooting and len/camera body behaves.
now try testing with 87c or some of the opaque filters, see how that does.
one thing is B&W has no antihalation backing (same as some other scientific emulstions)
so there is light scattering after it goes through the emulsion. takes a bit getting used
to. allows you to put more film in the camera if you load your own than is usual.
at one time Ilford had a 72 exposure non IR B&W film that fit in regular cassettes. had a special
reel to develop it in a regular Nikor tank.

I am fairly new to infared photography and was wondering if anyone
could offer me some advice. I am familiar with the basies (ie. keep
refrigerated, develop immediately after exposure, use a red filter...)
but I would greatly appreciate some more detailed information on
exposure. I am using Kodak high speed infared. I have been bracketing
based upon a reflected meter measurement and have found a consistent
need for underexposure since my negatives have typically been quite
dense. In clear sunlight, it appears that a 1&1/2 to 2 stop
underexposure is necessary. I have not tested further and have been
unable to find any more information. Is there any way to specifically
test or calculate infared levels?? If there is not also does anyone
have any general exposure guidelines that would be helpful?
Thanks,
Sherri
