Dear Ket,

If you buy a Sekonic or Minolta flashmeter, you will probably get something
very useful. But consider this alternative; it provides more information
than a meter and is less expensive in the short run.

I have been a professional photographer in NYC for almost 35 years and I
rarely use a lightmeter - for tungsten or strobe. I shoot Polaroid proofs.

A meter will tell you about the quantity of light, but a picture will show
you the quality of the light. Big difference. On a still life, I often spend
more $$$ on Polaroids than on real film.

My method is to shoot Polaroid #52 (4x5) with a .6ND (2 fstops). That brings
the speed of the #52 - 400ASA - to the speed of my TMX or EPP.
Figure out your own system and test thoroughly.
