If you use a #87 gelatine: I don't think it will stand up to the
heat generated by the flash. Note that I say 'generated', not
'emitted'....apart from the heat that any flash emits, using an IR
filter means that the entire visible spectrum is absorbed by the
filter, and it can only do so by transforming it into heat.
Even my 0.4mm thick polyester #87C can't stand this abuse, and fades.
The 0.1mm #87 is fine though, it will buckle slightly under extreme heat
(halogen torch light), but won't fade.
