It has been my experience that using a B setting for any 4 hour exposure
runs the risk of leaving you with drained batteries if you happpen to be
using any form of electro-mechanical style shutter. The preferred option for
me, at least, is to use a camera with a T setting when employing long
shutter times.

If you do not have a T setting on your camera ( I acknowledge most modern
cameras seem to have omitted this useful option) then I suggest that you
use a fully mechanical camera where battery power is not employed to keep
the shutter screen open during the 4 hours Joe has recommended.

Sorry to intrude into your discussion. If I was a computer literate person I
would have tried to respond privately thus being well mannered. Perhaps you
can tell me how I can respond privately for next time so do not have to
write such marginally relevant material for all subscribers to read.

Cheers

Des
