I'll toss my hat into the ring. Actually, I've been playing around with
some ideas for an IR exposure meter for a while (still just ideas).

I don't have much direct experience measuring light, but I work with people
who do. We make a linear ceptometer for the PAR range (400 - 700 nm) using
80 photodiodes each.
