There is no problem with x-ray via carry-on luggage.  I would HIGHLY recommend
NOT asking for hand inspection.  You only draw attention to something unusual
that security may not understand.  They may want to open the cannisters to
examine the contents.

Best, is to simply allow them to see what you've got through the normal
processes.  I've flown to Ireland (see my Web page) and shot IR without any
fogging via x-ray scanners.
