Re: Shooting the eclipse.
forget the Nostradamus garbage.
its a total eclipse. you'll need a solar filter until you hit totality. use a 500mm on a 35mm camera
or better.
I'm not sure what good HIE will have on it. might as well use conventional B&W unless you want
the large grain on it. H-alpha lines are much better to look at, but they are not IR. that's another filter..boy these filters get expensive.

I have been hearing about it... scary thing is that in a Nostradamus
quatrain it was said that in that eclipse of the sun in 1999, we will see a
tail of a comet that we are supposedly supposed to literally pass right
through in September... I guess its only scary if you believe his
predictions!
That had nothing to do with IR tho... I was going to ask... is that
eclipse a total eclipse? Or partial? Because if it is partial then the HIE
will pick up to much light and it will be a total white picture wouldn't it?
I've never done it though so I was just wondering ;-)
