EIR color without filter gives nice results, an overall cool blueish 
background (especially given the normally reddish/green from 
Tungsten/fluorescent), with a nice color spectrum in the fireworks 
trails themselves....
Can't remember the aperture, I would bracket between f5.6 and f16, 
during bulb sessions, time depending on overall background light (try 
to keep the bright street lights themselves out of the image, burned 
out white spots are nasty).

Never seen any interesting b&w images of fireworks....you would need 
lots of good foreground/scenery to make that appealing to the 
eye....and even then the firework itself is not the key element.
