I have Lisco and Fidelity holders.... some old, some relatively new, and
some Riteway and Linhof some 25+ years young. The Fidelity have 8 dots on
the slide-pull and 5 on the film holder itself. The old Riteway have 5
dimples just below the "wire" pull tab.
I have never had any problems with "leakage" that I may attribute to any
filmholder (based on the number of dots) other than that acquired by
removing the slide and leaving it out during exposure. I will replace the
slide without turning it round (to indicate "exposed") but I will make sure
it is locked. I then take a small piece of masking tape and apply it to the
holder as a "seal" to indicate that is has been exposed.
In my bag, I carry around a piece of alumin(i)um foil that I "tent" over
the film holder and most of the bellows to protect against the chance of IR
radiation other than that coming in through the lens. I place it in
position before inserting the film holder and remove it when finished. My
old Linhof seems to have a very thin leather 'veneer' and, while I have not
had any fogging without my foil tent 'in situ', I prefer using the
protection... especially when you look at the cost of the HSI these days.
