I shoot heaps of Ilford SFX. You certainly don't get the white trees, but
they are lighter than with Ilford HP4. I just did some side by side shots
on Friday of Konica and Ilford, but haven't printed them yet. I will let
you know how they come out.
I usually use SFX for portraits because the skin comes out so smooth. SFX
certainly hides many of the blemishes that people find unsightly on
themselves. The skin has a type of glow to it. I usually overexpose it by
half a stop and I think that helps the glow.
The great thing about SFX is that it is available in 120 size though most
of my successful experience thus far has been on 135 film. I always shoot
through a 25A red filter.
