The manual camera will allow you a lot more control over your IR photography.

>From memory the Konica 750 shots were around 1/8 second at f11 using an R72
filter - this normally gives me bullet proof high contrast negs.  If you
want less contrast and more detail in the highlights try 1/15 second or
faster.

The nature of the film development process will affect your results - best
to shoot a test roll for your preferred devlopment process - lab or home.

The IRFAQ http://www.cocam.co.uk/CoCamWS/Infrared/INFRARED.HTM has a new
section on filters and recommended exposure times - you may find it useful
to have a look.
