I know one of my Kodak infrared publications discusses painting
IR flashbulbs, and I seem to recall a reference to an article
with details on compounding the paint used. But the books are
at home and I'm at work; I will try to find the information
tonight when I get home.

Not as much fun as flash bulbs, but in the long run you could
probably save money getting a good price on a used infrared
flash. I use a Sunpak 622 Super that I got for under $300
including the optional infrared head, works beautifully with my
press camera as well as my SLRs.
