Is this a long-term IR project, or is IR just a short-term subject in
a larger program?
If the first: have you considered using thin IR foil, and taping that on
the inside of the camera, behind the shutter, between the film rails?
Given the small size (24x45mm), and a price of US$0.50 pro square cm,
this would be relatively cheap, but optically better than using
unexposed & developed E-6, and it totally avoids the hassle of opaque
filters in front of the lens/viewfinder (tripod/framing/focusing).
This polyester foil is available in 0.1mm thickness (same as
gelatine) in colors #89B and #87, and in 0.4mm thickness as
#87C....taped on the left & right with ordinary clear office tape.
I have been using one such #87C in my EOS-1 for almost 3 years now,
and also a #12 medium-yellow (for Kodak EIR) temporarily mounted
during skiing trips (if there is one place where you don't want to
klutz around with filters for 3 different films, that is it!....8-))
Mail me privately if you want more details.
