That's not necessarily true. I've shot SFX 200 with a Hoya R 72 in
Bright sunlight and hand held it. I ended up using about 1/60 and f/2 on
my Nikon 28mm...so it's possible, but focuing is another matter!
Some people can see through the R72, but I rarely can. I focus without
the filter and then hold it up or screw it onto the lens. If I don't
move too much I get about what i saw in the viewfinder. Nevertheless
It's rather un-nerving not to know what you are photographing!
