Don,

You are probably correct in your assumptions.  Old leather bellows are
usually IR proof; Contemporary artificial materials often are not.

Seem to recall someone else having this problem and having a set of IR
proof bellows made up by Wisner.  You can now search the mailing list
archive so maybe the info. is there.

Have just spent an hour or so applying lanolin to some very dried out B&J
Gover monorail bellows in the hope that they are leather :-)  As it turns
out they do indeed seem to be leather and no longer make the alarming
cracking noises as the standards are moved on the rail :-)
