Re: Welcome to infrared
Willem and friends,
I remember your name from some of your activity on
rec.photo.digital about a year or so ago. As I recall, your
interests were very wide-ranging, and I was impressed. I
consider it an honor to become an associate, and will try to
contribute as well as absorb.
My bio, following your suggested order:
Name: Chuck Olson
Profession/Study: Electrical Engineering, 38 years, now retired.
Country: Cupertino, California, USA
Personal history of photography: From around 1950, I used at
various times: Kodak Signet 35, Kodak Retina 3C, Rolleiflex 3.5,
half-frame 620 folding, 4 by 5 Bush Pressman, Nikon S2, Minolta
SRT102, Olympus OM1, OM2, Stereo Realist, Olympus D-200L, Nikon
CP-950, Sony MVC-FD-91.
Preferred subjects: Grandchildren, flowers, bugs, scenics,
beautiful women (rare).
Materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry): Mostly digital these
days with Epson Stylus Color 900 printer and Epson ink and paper.
Some stereo slides on cheap Kodak film, store developed, mount
myself for viewing and projecting.
Format (35mm/medium format/large format): Covered in camera
history.
Other strange hobbies:Piano and synthesizers (read music),
Astronomy, Microscopy, Home machine shop, Ham radio, Electronics,
Computer.
How did you find out about this list: Infrared post in
rec.photo.digital
Expand on anything photographic you like: My new Hoya R72
infrared filter works well with the Nikon CP-950. Exposures in
sunny conditions average around 1/30 at f2.6. I can see very dim
visible red light bulb through the R72. No info found comparing
it to the older 87C, 87, 88A, 89B filters, now largely impossible
to obtain (I hear).
