Re: Infrared Film Spectral Response

I have colleagues in Moscow, with whom I collaborate, if anyone knows the name
of the film, I am sure I could have it shipped with some dry ice, I am very
interested in getting some here, perhaps also there are other IR shielding
methods that could be used besides dry Ice,
One immediate thought that comes to mind is the use of styrofoam as insulation
an perhaps a few peltier junctions connected to batteries, this would keep the
temperature low while in transit and it would also be reusable.

A further query may be this, can there be any treatment to the developement of
negatives to cut out the visual band noise and accentuate a possible very weak
1200nm IR signal , would it be better to filter as to destroy everything but
1000-1500nm and make long exposure tests for any sensitivity at all? Has
anyone done this, kodak simply shows the log function as decaying rapidly to
zero at around 1000nm, but it does not show any information past that lambda

uses for 1500 are varied, for one, near infrared is emmitted by humans in
copious amounts, it would (and is) possible to reveal concealed shapes that
are worse heat conductors, or that are better heat conductors than skin, even
if they were concealed by layers of clothing, currently I can do this with IR
CCD's, and also metal shows up on the 2mm band , other uses include searching
for heat leaks and for finding odd harmonics generated by different
laser/crystal combinations
