Interesting to hear that soemone has already tried the 9.5" film.
The 5" bulk roll would be useful if it is still available.
Have a feeling that all the thinner base films will present quite a few
challenges in loading 4x5 holders and will probably require glass neg.
carriers on enlargers.
At least there is an option to use 4x5 IR film if the larger bulk rolls are
still available.
Will probably try to source some 70mm Kodak infrared film for cut down and
roll your own medium format HIE. Having played around with thin bulk roll
emulsions I wouldn't feel that confident about using thin HIE in 4x5
holders.
Stan's experiences seem to confirm that there are a few problems to
overcome. If the cost of the film remains the same (about $40 a box) then
there would probably be better ways to experiment with your money. Now,
how many boxes of HIE make a Nikon Coolpix 950? :-)
All the best,
