I haven't tried this scanner yet but many of the affordable scanners that
do 4x5 may be a bit on the soft side. If you're looking for large/medium
format scanning you really want to test the scanner before purchasing. Do
yourself a favour and get a commercial scan of one of your images and use
this to compare to the scanner's quality.
You then have to ask yourself what quality do I need and how much am I
prepared to pay. I'm currently getting 75Mb RGB scans of transparencies for
my gallery for around $30US each. That's a large number of scans for the
cost of a good scanner and with better quality than desktop scanners. The
quality difference between these scans and my LS2000 is such that I only
use my LS2000 for web work or proofing.
As with film it's still a case of test it for yourself and remember that
saving money by going cheap doesn't necessarily save you money.

:-) Thanks for the feedback on that... it's always nice to know that what
you think may be useful for other people actually comes across that way.
Cheers
