Re: Maco IR film and anti-halation layer

I may be new to the world of infrared photography, but this is just a
curious observation from information i have read on the Maco IR film:
The Maco IR film has an anti-halation layer unlike Kodak High-Speed Infrared
film. The Kodak film produces ghostly 'halo' effects from not have this
anti-halation layer. It would be good if the Maco IR film didn't have an
anti-halation layer to produce effects like the Kodak film.
I have also read that the anti-halation layer on the Maco IR film has to be
washed off in a pre-wash before development. Therefore is it possible to
wash off the anti-halation layer before exposing the film in the camera?
Would this be possible and what effects might this have? I can imagine
drying the unexposed, undeveloped film might cause problems but might be
worth the effort. Any comments???
