Yes, you only need a steady hand when cutting the filter, since it
must fall just between the film rails....

clear office tape on each end.
A #87C (0.4mm thick polyester) has been sitting that way in my EOS-1
for several years now.
And from time to time I also tape a #12 medium-yellow in my second
EOS-1, for Ektachrome IR....once you start juggling with several
lenses and bodies on a steep ski slope in -20C weather, all handling
should be kept to a minimum....definately fiddling with
filters....not to mention the risk of mis-matching filters & film
type in the heat of the moment....;-))

I can supply you with several types (differing in both color and
material/thickness/stiffness), all for US$0.50 pro square centimeter.
