If the customs peops can't see inside the package with their hand luggage
scanners then you will have the film hand searched. If you put the film in
with your hold luggage then the scanner will increase power automagically
until it can "see through" the package - trashing the film.
Best way is to take the film through on your person - but this is not
possible with HIE as it comes in a metal container. So, trust the hand
luggage scanners and just put it through in a normal film cooler bag. You
could ask for a hand search but I would not recommend it unless you keep
your changing bag handy and have good powers of persuasion :-)
The hand luggage scanners in major international airports should do no
damage to Infrared and ordinary print/trannie film.
