Hamamatsu lists silicon photodiodes for cameras with spectral response
ranges as limited as 320-730 nm (essentially visible), also a Si photodiode
with an 840 nm upper range, although a response up to 1100 nm in the
near-infrared would be typical of many Si photodiodes including others
listed by Hamamatsu ( http://www.hamamatsu.com ).
